For an overall analysis of Alex’s strategies, check out this post.
This week has been a bit boring on the wagering front, so I started a new series today.![]()
It’s called This Day in History, and is based on the mini-Fact Primers I’ve been putting together on occasion. Click on the image to go to the entry for April 16:
Anyway, another runaway for Alex, who will win his fifth tonight, barring something bizarre.

Alex pulled off a rare feat: he found both Daily Doubles in the second round on consecutive clues. He wagered $100 both times, declining to try for the epic feat Roger Craig pulled off. (The first clue would have burned him here, though.)
What will Alex do with this category?

He tried to go for an even $30,000, and instead fell to an even $20,000.

I liked how Dane started mimicking the DD-hunting strategy. I was disappointed that Erin did not, for the most part, often heading back to the top of the category.
The Forrest Bounce is a dangerous tactic for most players, because it often blows up in their faces. It throws your opponents off, but it usually throws the bouncer off even more. That’s why you don’t see a lot of people doing it.
But when you’re playing someone who can wield it properly, you have to take it to him, or else you’re toast.
