Final Jeopardy! wagering analysis:
Tuesday, September 27, 2016

[php snippet=76]

Thanks to my wagering sentries, I was well prepared for Tuesday’s results.

Seth is in control heading into Final, but both of his opponents can dethrone him.

Seth

Wilson (6x)

Miranda

Prince

Bing

Kao

15,800 9,100 6,800

Both Miranda and Bing should go for broke, since Seth has them each in a “crush” situation; the only way either can win is with a correct answer.

Bing’s Penultimate Wager (1,200 out of 8,000) was ok – he would have been in second place with a correct response, but here, he’s still alive. (I would have preferred he gone for everything, but that would not have worked out too well for him.)

First-order calculations

Seth
Miranda
Bing
15,800 9,100 6,800
FIRST-ORDER SECOND-ORDER COVER ZERO
min max min max min max
2,400 4,500 6,600
2,200

What actually happened

Seth Miranda Bing
15,800 9,100 6,800
3,000 1,500 6,601
12,800 10,600 199
min max
2,401 6,699 6,701 6,601
2,199

For my thoughts, please watch the end of my video.

Seth is the main beneficiary of this, bringing his 7-day total up to $166,500. The biggest losers are his challengers in the next game, who I’m sure were not very pleased with Miranda.
