I know that conventional wisdom says to go small if you’re Dolph here and play for a triple stumper however I really dislike this strategy in practicality as it relies on Christie making what, to me at least, would be a grievous error. I think that Christie should cap at 4,400 for sure to force Dolph to get it right to win. If I’m Dolph I’m not relying on my opponent to not recognize this situation. I would think that in all likelihood my only chance to win is a solo-get – in which case I would wager nearly everything as he did (certainly no less than 4,400 to cover an unlikely zero wager from Christie).

Had to pipe up in agreement w/ you RE: the chemical elements DD wager. It’s DAYS later and I’m still salty (…lol) about it! There are 11 elements that fit the clue really, and maybe only 1 or 2 that most people would miss, those being stannum and stibium. The rest are, I have to believe, common knowledge.
What’s more, SPOILER ALERT bad DD wagering in easy categories cost her dearly the next day. So frustrating!
For those curious, the answers in order were: iron (fe – ferrum) silver (ag – argentum) lead (pb – plumbum) sodium (na – natrium) tin (sn – stannum)
And the only other possible elements that fit the clue: potassium (k – kalium) copper (cu – cuprum) antimony (sb – stibium) tungsten (w – wolfram) gold (au – aurum) mercury (hg – hydrargyrum)
