William could guarantee a win with a 6,801 wager.
To stay above him if he’s wrong with that wager, Nikki should cap hers at 2,600. Eileen can’t catch William.
Basic strategy – second vs. third
Nikki can wager up to 8,200. (Remember, a tie for a wild card is broken by whoever led going into Final.)
Basic strategy – Rule #3
Nikki could wager at least 4,201 to cover a zero by William.
Mind games – first vs. second
If Nikki wagers 2,600
William could stay above her with a wager of 1,599.
If he’s right with that wager, he’ll have 16,799, so perhaps Nikki should wager at least 5,800.
If Nikki wagers 8,200
William could cover this with a wager of 4,001 – probably better than putting the additional 2,800 on the line, since 19,201 will probably be good for a wild card.
To account for that possibility, Nikki should wager at least 200.
What actually happened
William moves on; Nikki just barely holds on to that last wild card spot. Eileen and Josiah are out.

That’s incredibly obscure for a Jeopardy question — so much so that they ought to name the book and/or the author.
I don’t think it’s that obscure given the Hunger Games series’ popularity, especially among young people, especially now that the movies are coming out. ‘Arrowhead’ + ‘archer zodiac sign’ + ‘heroine with a plant name’ seemed pretty easy, par for the course for a Teen Tournament final jeopardy…to me at least, as a young person myself.
