Daily analysis, November 1 – our champ quickly runs out of gas

I began this post by typing “October”. Haven’t figured this whole “changing of months” out yet.

Cover 20131101

An all-female match-up! Haven’t had one of those in quite a while, as far as I can recall. Surprising to see Rhea struggle after such a great game yesterday.

Rhea Handelman: 7,900
Norah McKissic: 19,400
Andrea Massar: 13,200

Norah should wager 7,000 to cover Andrea. If she’s wrong, she’ll have 12,400 – less than Andrea.

Andrea has a decision to make. She can risk no more than 800, probably staying above Norah if Norah’s wrong, but the danger is she might be overtaken by Rhea. If she’s worried about that, she should wager at least 2,600 – but at that point, she might as well go for at least 6,200 (to cover a zero by Norah) or – hey, why not – everything.

Rhea needs to wager at least 4,500 to cover Norah’s incorrect score, and might as well go for more than 6,100 to cover Andrea’s “small” wager. At that point, she might want to go all in, too.

Final Jeopardy wagers November 1 2013

The Final Jeopardy! clue for November 1, 2013:

NATIONS OF THE WORLD
THE ONLY 2 COUNTRIES IN THE AMERICAS THAT BORDER EACH OTHER & BEGIN WITH THE SAME LETTER

Correct response: What are Bolivia and Brazil?
