Final Jeopardy! wagering analysis:
Thursday, May 19, 2016 (Power Players #4)

[php snippet=65]

We’re almost done with Power Players Week! Let’s get through these last two nights.

Al rolled tonight; Ana could have made a much better Daily Double wager to keep him within range.

Al

Franken

Ana

Navarro

Sunny

Hostin

20,000 9,800 5,000
USO Operation Smile Nicaragua Bronx Children’s Museum

Enjoy:

One thing I forgot in my excitement yesterday is that the $10,000 “consolation” prize is a minimum. Anyone who can improve on it should wager everything.

The final results

Al Ana Sunny
20,000 9,800 5,000
5 1,200 5,000
20,005 11,000 0
min max
399

Jonathan Capehart left $2,600 on the table yesterday… and Ana’s charity receives $8,600 less than it could have. A shame.

The Final Jeopardy! clue

  1. Maybe the reluctance to wager everything in order to maximize their charity’s winnings is an ego thing? I’m guessing that high-profile people who are supposedly intelligent might not want to be known as “that person who got $0 on Jeopardy”? Of course the hardcore J! fans would know the real deal, but casual viewers might tend to just look at the final total… Just a theory!

  2. WHo’s the blame for this whole atrocity known as Power Players Week-Alex or someone else?
