Will Kelly Bayles keep our carousel from taking on a new champ tonight?
She looked much stronger tonight, and once again, she nailed the Penultimate Clue to lock up the game heading into Final Jeopardy!.

Kelly Bayles (1x) |
Ariel Watkins |
Ed Brown |
| 20,600 | 1,600 | 10,200 |
This time, however, she got a huge assist from Ed, who made a terrible wager on the Antepenultimate Clue.
Here were the scores:
| ANTEPENULTIMATE WAGER IN THE CANADIAN PROVINCE for $1,600 |
||
|
Kelly |
Ariel |
Ed |
| 18,600 | 1,600 | 7,200 |
| one clue remaining: $2,000 | ||
I get it: IN THE CANADIAN PROVINCE gave our contestants some headaches. Ed had already missed a clue where he was spotted Edmonton, and the clue about Regina was a triple-stumper. (Bone up on those capitals, people!)
But here, Ed has to go for broke. Even if he wagers $5 and misses, he can have at most $9,195, leaving him barely locked out.
Instead, he went for $3,000 – maybe eyeing Ariel’s total and trying to guarantee himself second place. Instead…
What actually happened
| Kelly | Ariel | Ed | |||
| 20,600 | 1,600 | 10,200 | |||
| 0 | 1,400 | 6,999 | |||
| 20,600 | 200 | 3,201 | |||
| min | max | ||||
| 199 | |||||
…he handed Kelly the game, assuming Kelly would have played for the lockout had Ed doubled up to 14,400 and Ed wagered small.
Rehashing one of my most basic rules: DON’T PLAY FOR SECOND PLACE!
In any event, Kelly has now won 2 games and $37,500.

If there is any place where your audience will be in favour of hearing superfluous “fun facts” it is on a website dedicated to wagering on a trivia show.
I, at least, find them interesting, so keep ’em coming!
