One of tonight’s clues brought back bad memories of a certain haircut I had for, oh, over a decade.![]()
Yeah, I had a bowl cut for maybe thirteen years. I wanted to get a crew cut like the popular kids, but both Mom and hairdresser said no – my forehead was too big and wouldn’t look good without hair covering it. Hence, the bangs.
Anyway … oh, hey, look! Julia has win #13 locked up!
Julia Collins: 17,800
Sirena Terr: 3,000
Lara Brenckle Malmont: 6,800
The Final Jeopardy! category: ORGANIZATIONS
I couldn’t believe Sirena’s wager of 200 with less than a minute remaining and facing a locked-out position from Julia. If you’re going to go on Jeopardy!, play to win – don’t play to Not Lose.
Basic strategy
Julia can wager up to 4,200 to preserve her victory.
Lara can wager up to 800 to preserve second place.
Tough clue, but nice wagering by Lara in particular.
The Final Jeopardy! clue for May 21, 2014 (ORGANIZATIONS):
THE FULL NAME OF THIS SCHOLARLY GROUP FOUNDED AFTER A LECTURE IN 1660 INCLUDES “OF LONDON FOR IMPROVING NATURAL KNOWLEDGE”
Correct response: What is The Royal Society?
Personally, I got stuck thinking the name was an acronym for something, like this Final from my TOC. I spent 30 seconds wondering what ended in “LINK” or “FINK”. Whoops!

Completely agree with the $200 DD wager. Why go through everything to get on if you don’t give yourself a shot?
