Final Jeopardy! wagering analysis:
Wednesday, May 18, 2016 (Power Players #3)

[php snippet=65]

On Wednesday, one player did something 90% of Jeopardy! players wouldn’t have the guts to do.

And it was my favorite player of the week, to boot: Louis C.K. bet $5,000 on the Penultimate Wager, risking a fall to second but giving himself a lock (assuming we wouldn’t see any more clues).

You can see my reaction in the video.

The meaningless Final Wagers

399 5,000 6,000
18,399 200 14,800

I was unsurprised to see Louis win – as I mention in the video, comedians have to have a wide range of knowledge to make effective jokes. Congrats, Louis!

Correction: *Good* comedians have to have a wide range of knowledge. (Although my wide range of knowledge didn’t help my comedy as apparently one of my knowledge holes is joke writing and telling.)

    • Good addition – that was what I was thinking but never said it. In fact I’d say good comic writing has a lot in common with good trivia writing, namely knowing what your audience will ‘get’ and what will get them to come back again.

The trailers ideally should’ve bet it all since they could exceed the minimum guarantee by going all-in (when they weren’t already there).
