Bill showed that it’s entirely possible to play the game aggressively, fail, and be in contention heading into Final. I hope that changes the way some people play in the future.

    Bill incorrectly answered the $1,600 algorithm question as “greatest common denominator” instead of “greatest common divisor”. I was very surprised that the judges didn’t catch this and correct the score before Final Jeopardy”. There is no such thing as a greatest common denominator.

    I agree, Larry. There’s “least common denominator,” which is the least common multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions, but there is no such thing as a “greatest common denominator,” as a common denominator could be as large as you want it to be. The correct answer was definitely “greatest common divisor” and I’m shocked that none of the judges caught this. I wonder if the answer was just written incorrectly.
