Today is a big anniversary – more on that after tonight’s analysis.
John Schultz is looking for his fifth win, and he’s in great position heading into Final:
John Schultz | Joshua Qualls | Cyndi Pruss |
15,800 | 9,700 | 6,000 |
We’ll deal with:
U.S. STATES
Unfortunately, Cyndi is just barely out of contention – 6,100 separates first from second, meaning she’s 100 short of where she needs to be.
As a side note, I thought Joshua looked a bit like Josh Radnor – Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. Lo and behold, we got a clue relating to one of the long-running jokes on the show: how Ted woke up next to a pineapple.
The analysis
Not much to think about here.
Joshua needs to get it right, so might as well go all in.
Cyndi should play for second; using Joshua’s “let’s cover a zero wager by a dollar” wager is a good idea.
What actually happened
Congrats to John, who extends our Streak of Virility to a 14th game – and who looks to break our drought of mega-champions tomorrow.
One year ago today, my brother and I put together my favorite video ever – an instant classic here on The Final Wager.

Pretty simple clue.
In the last 10 regular games (counting tonight) in which we had three players in Final Jeopardy we have the following result: In 2 cases all three got it right = easy. 3 cases of 1 right + 4 cases of 2 right = 7 ok and 1 case of 0 right = hard. So that’s a “final jeopardy degree of difficulty = just right” score of 70%. The “average degree of difficulty” score (higher is harder) is 1.30.
The “no triple stumper on FJ” streak now stands at 2 days.
John wagered 3700 and his range should be from 3601 to 3799
Shouldn’t Cyndi wager at least 1,201 because if Joshua misses with the 2,500 wager he will have 7,200 so Cyndi will cover with 1,201.
