Our three Finalists have, between them, 39 victories – by far the record for a TOC Final. This is also the first time two players with double-digit win-totals have met in a Jeopardy! match. (Here’s my overview of the tournament structure.)

I’ve given you previews, reviews – you’ll find each player’s semifinal “heat map” below – but you haven’t really seen them interact off-stage, as real people. Unless you saw my September 29 analysis with Ben and Julia as Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs, that is. Yes, respectively.

How did they come to decide on these monikers? It took a while, but it’s fun to watch the interplay between these two future Finalists, filmed the day before the TOC began.

A quick note on the players’ semifinal performances:

  • They were the only three players to respond correctly in Final
  • They were 5/5 on Daily Doubles
  • They had a total of 4 incorrect responses

It’s going to be fun. As Alex said in his post-game chat with Wednesday’s players, there’s a range of styles: Arthur is unorthodox, Julia is traditional, Ben is somewhere in between.
