Daily analysis, Wednesday, June 18

Tonight’s cover photo might give you a clue as to why this evening’s video is up so late. The Final Wager - June 18, 2014

As I was hoping, I got a double lock.

Paige Ormiston: 10,200
Troy Senik: 24,700
Desirée Zicko: 1,800

The Final Jeopardy! category: MUSIC IN AMERICA

Troy can risk up to 4,300 of his winnings.

Paige might as well wager zero, but can wager up to 6,600.

Troy’s Daily Double

Troy had a Daily Double with four clues remaining on the board. Their values were:

1,200 / 1,600 / 2,000 / 2,000

and the scores were:

Paige: 7,400
Troy: 25,200
Desirée: 1,800

I discuss this a bit in my video, but with the 6,800 remaining on the board, Paige can have up to 14,200. Troy should wager 3,200 if he’s confident and wants to guarantee a victory by having double that amount, 28,400.

On the other hand, his 500 wager was also excellent, as it forced Paige to get both 2,000 clues — not an easy feat.

After nabbing the 1,200 and 1,600, she was still 2,150 short of being in contention, so she needed to at least take a stab at the last two. She did not.
