Daily analysis, Wednesday, March 19

I’m getting ready to fire up the carousel music. Will we get a multi-day winner any time soon?

Our defending champ is in a tight third heading into this Final – but that tends to be a good position if the clue is a tricky one.

Nick Durazo: 11,600
Gabor Revy: 15,600
Susan Shikany: 12,400

The Final Jeopardy! category: THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

As always in this situation, a tough one to decipher for second and third.

Gabor should wager 9,200 to control his own destiny.

Susan will need to wager at least 10,800 to cover Nick – but if she’s wrong, she’ll be out of contention, so she might as well wager everything.

Nick should wager at least 4,000 to cover a zero wager by both of his opponents, and no more than 5,200 in case both he and Gabor are incorrect.

Here’s where the mind games kick in. If Susan thinks Nick will wager that maximum of 5,200, she can wager 4,400 to cover him in that case (and no more than 6,000 so as not to fall below Gabor).

In response, Nick should cap his wager at 3,600, so that if both he and Susan get it wrong, he’ll be at least tied. Should he choose this route, he should also wager at least 1,600 to cover an “unsafe” wager by Susan.

I don’t know why 10,000 is such a popular “bad” wager this week.

In the video, I give you a hint as to how to narrow down this Final.
