Happy 2014! How will our players kick off the new year? The Final Wager January 1, 2013

Jerry’s got yet another game locked up heading into Final – his fourth out of five. Gotta say I jumped for joy when he made a True Daily Double on an $800 clue in a power category. This guy’s here to play!

This is also the third time an opponent declined to guess on the final clue of Double Jeopardy! when it would make the difference between having a shot and [possibly] taking second. These guys are NOT here to play.

Jerry Slowik: 21,600
Bridget O’Donnell: 10,000
John Coulter: 5,800

The only item of interest: who will come in second? Bridget is in the driver’s seat.

Jerry can wager up to 1,600 and savor his victory.

Bridget should put up 1,600: no more, since there’s nothing to be gained from extra points. But if she really wants to push the envelope, she can wager up to 4,200.

John might as well wager everything, although if he wants to be a little safer, he can go for at least 4,201 to cover a zero wager by Bridget. A less-safe alternative is a minimum of 2,601.

Not too bad, I suppose. Let’s see how Jerry does tomorrow in game number six!
